Element Optics Helix 1500 Range Finder
This Element Optics Helix 1500 rangefinder is a lightweight model, so you can easily bring it along on hikes. It feels great to hold in your hand and it’s incredibly easy to use. You can easily connect it to the Element Ballistics app through Bluetooth and you can even connect it to the HYPR-7 rifle scope. The Helix 1500 rangefinder and the HYPR-7 rifle scope by Element Optics can then communicate with one another. This means that both devices will use all available data to provide the perfect firing solution.
The Element Optics Helix 1500 rangefinder has a range of -as the name implies- 1500 metres. It has a standard magnification of 6x, with a field-of-view of 12.3 metres at a distance of 100 metres. The objective has a diameter of 22 mm, which provides a decent transmission of light. As a result, the rangefinder can be used to observe an object, while still keeping a decent overview. Everything you observe as well as the data the rangefinder can provide about the distance to any specific object is presented on the dual colour T-OLED display. The green lines indicate the laser is active and the angle and the distance to the object are presented in red. Pressing the button on top of the Helix 1500 rangefinder allows you to switch between ranging modes:
• LOS – Line of Sight: the rangefinder will measure the actual distance to the object.
• HCD – Horizontal Component Distance: the rangefinder measures the horizontal distance to the object.
• BALC- Ballistic Calculator: this mode presents the LOS and a firing solution. It can show that solution in MOA, MRAD, inches or cm.
Pressing the mode-button for 3 seconds allows you to switch between the First- and Last modes. Using the First mode will ensure the Element Optics Helix 1500 rangefinder only measures the distance to the object closest to you. Even if you -accidentally- move the laser past that object and it hits something like a tree a little farther away, the rangefinder will still only display the distance to the object closest to you. The Last mode does the exact opposite and it only shows the distance to the object furthest from you.
The Helix 1500 rangefinder by Element Optics weighs only 150 grams and it has a length of 100 mm. As such, it takes up barely any space so you can easily bring it along. It has a weather-resistant housing, with a rough texture on top and on the bottom for some extra grip.

This rangefinder will help you to take shots at long distances and is very accurate. Once you add the information to your phone Element Ballistic App, you will immediately see the results. No more tape in your scope if you decide to do so. I had to search on the internet for how to do the settings, and even though I watched several videos, it was off at the beginning, so be patient and see what information was missing. I found out that the videos do not tell you everything in detail, so you have to check step by step if all the information is correct to make it work perfectly. So, be patient for those who bought this rangefinder for the first time. Once you place all the missing information, it’s a “Wow,” and a smile comes out of your face after hitting the target dead center. The only thing, as previously mentioned by others, is that sometimes I have to close the Element Ballistic App and opened again so the rangefinder will receive all the updates, but that is not a major issue to me. I hope Element Optics develops an update to improve this little inconvenience. Besides that, I love it every time I take it for pest control, especially if Slugs are used for long distances. Nothing is perfect, but this comes very close. The Element Optics Helix 1500 Ballistic Rangefinder is a definite game-changer! It boasts excellent quality and is easy to navigate both on the device and within the app. The brightness adjustment feature is excellent, and the ballistic calculator now allows me to hit targets at 200 meters using 10 grain Zan slugs in .177 caliber. It’s pretty amazing—100 meters now feels like the new 40. The only drawback is that sometimes I need to restart the app for it to recognize the device, but this is a minor inconvenience for an otherwise revolutionary product.
